Pratigya Kumari

Project Coordinator

Pratigya Kaumari played a foundational role alongside her husband, Jhulan Kumar, in taking the initial steps to establish Open Hands Education Trust in her home village in 2017. Since its inception, she has remained a dedicated supporter of the project, contributing in a variety of meaningful ways.
Pratigya holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Zoology from Magadh University in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India. She has a longstanding commitment to advocating for human rights, particularly women’s rights, and is deeply passionate about addressing inequalities rooted in the traditional caste system.
Through the work of Open Hands Education Trust, Pratigya firmly believes in the power of education and community-based initiatives to empower women and children, enabling them to transcend the limitations imposed by caste and socioeconomic status. With this conviction, she has joined the Board of the Trust as a Project Coordinator.
Having grown up in Dadawan—the very village where the Trust’s programs are implemented—Pratigya brings invaluable local insight into the challenges faced by marginalized women and children. Her lived experience offers a unique and authentic perspective that informs the organization’s strategies and outreach.
In her role on the Board, she will continue to provide consultation and guidance on how best to serve the community with dignity and respect, ensuring that the voices of those most in need remain central to the Trust’s mission.
