In the future, Open Hands Education Trust would like to offer small micro loans to students in the sewing program. We would like to provide pathways for sewing machine ownership to the women who attend our training. With their own sewing machine, women would have the option to have a sewing and tailoring business out of their homes. They could also teach other women sewing skills. As well, when young women marry and move to other villages, they could take their sewing machine and their sewing skills with them, and teach other students or set up a sewing business there. As they make an income they could pay off their loan in very small regular payments. We realize that in setting up a micro loan system we would have to research it carefully, to prevent any sense of unfairness that might be felt by other villagers, who are not taking the Open Hands Education Trust programs.
